I had a very disappointing experience at this O'Reilly Auto Parts location after my car battery died. When I arrived, a young employee helped me select a replacement battery. He was polite, but when I asked which battery he recommended, he told me that all batteries were essentially the same and that any compatible battery would work. When I asked the assistant manager, he explained that the primary difference was the warranty period, which was much more helpful. What concerned me most was the battery installation. Before the work began, I overheard the assistant manager tell the employee to "ChatGPT" whether any system resets were needed for my Volkswagen. That did not inspire confidence. When I asked if the assistant manager could perform the installation instead, I was told he had to stay at the register and that the employee was experienced. Unfortunately, what should have been a 30-minute battery replacement took nearly two hours. The employee dropped hardware, struggled with the installation, and at one point appeared to be attempting to install the battery in the wrong orientation. Eventually, the assistant manager came outside to help and guide him through the process. After the installation was completed, my battery warning light was still on. I was told that the car simply needed time to adjust to the new battery. As it turned out, the real problem was a failed alternator, not the battery. I later took the vehicle to a trusted repair shop, where the issue was properly diagnosed and corrected. I found their service to be inexperienced, inefficient, and ultimately unhelpful. The assistant manager's handling of the situation was particularly disappointing. Rather than ensuring that a new employee was properly supervised, I was repeatedly assured that everything was under control despite obvious difficulties and mistakes during the installation. I left feeling that my time and money had been wasted. Based on this experience, I would not trust this location with my vehicle again.

I cannot say enough about the service here. I’ll be honest — I’m completely clueless when it comes to cars, and walking into an auto shop is genuinely overwhelming for me. It’s outside my comfort zone in every way, and as someone who is neurodivergent, stepping into an unfamiliar environment like this takes real courage. But these two gentlemen made all the difference. They were kind, patient, and respectful — they listened carefully, noted exactly what I needed, and even though they didn’t have the part, they pointed me in the right direction and made sure everything was secured before I left. This is what real service looks like. No algorithm, no chatbot — just actual humans who genuinely care. Amazon could never. So glad this place exists in Oakland.

Amazing staff, very helpful! Just a terrible experience with Dodge Pro Master, battery group 49 is terrible design due to a bunch of fuses that have to be bolted on the battery itself. Despite this, and 6 different sockets and 2 different screw sizes later- the staff lent me every possible tool to do the change, unfortunately I did not have my socket set with me nor the electrical hand tool to do so- I had to do everything manually for an hour and 15 mins. Very accommodating and understanding. It all worked out, kept me company here or there when they were free. Highly recommend!

What a great place. My BMW wouldn’t start so I went down and I got a 750 peak amps USB power jump starter by Superstar. I brought it home and it was charged. I cable it to my car and it got going. I carried this now in my trunk and I never have to worry about running out of juice. The best way to shop at O’Reillys to go to the counter and ask them since they know what’s going on . Five stars for just the good vibe,free Parking ,good staff and good products.

10/10 Highly recommend this location due to their stellar customer service. Shout out to NOE (pronounced NO-WAY) who was such a pleasure to work with today. To preface, my battery died about a week ago- I was able to get a jump from a friend and a recommendation to O'Reilly's. I called the Park Blvd location and was told depending on the time of day- I may not be able to get the battery installed because they were short on staff. (1-2 people) This was the case this morning when I called shortly after they opened so I drove to the Broadway location in Piedmont instead after calling and being told they could assist me. Noe was so nice- he tested my battery first (it was a dud) and we walked through the (3) options of batteries I could pick from. He cleaned the inside of the battery area removing all corrosion before installing the new battery. He had me test it out for some minutes before I went on my way. In total, I was probably there no more than 30 minutes. Noe also gave me great recommendations for my tires and mechanic needs when I inquired. I definitely will come back if needed.
